Unlike chemical sprays and pellets, CATSCAT can be moved to different locations at regular intervals. It will not harm the environment, nor wash away with the rain and wind, and is safe to our waterways.

CATSCAT is an effective and environmentally safe deterrent for cats. Most gardeners, especially those with smaller gardens suffer damage caused by cats. Freshly cultivated areas are prime targets for digging and fouling. Beds, window boxes and pot plants all contain the soft earth that cats love. Cats hate CATSCAT. Treated areas are no longer a soft option - the cat goes elsewhere.

Application is quick and easy.

Each mat, complete with flexible plastic spikes, is cut into four pieces and covered lightly with soil. The spikes are harmless to cats and other animals, but are effective in discouraging excavation. Each pack contains 5 mats, which are approximately 20 x 16 cm (8” x 6”) and each mat cuts into 4 pieces 10 x 8 cm (4” x 3”). Depending on usage, each pack will cover up to 3 sq. metres.
CATSCAT is perfectly safe to use in most places. However, use wisely and avoid areas where young children play and where cats may jump directly from a height.

Organic gardeners can also benefit from CATSCAT. New seedlings can now be protected from your chickens scratching, without having to fence off delicate areas.

CATSCAT, established in 1991, is a family run, family owned business and, like most inventions, its mother was necessity, or, "I've got a problem with cats digging up my garden!"

Brought about through healthy 'after dinner' type discussion, it was seen as the best way to keep our beloved pets off our beloved plants.

Various ideas were thrown around, but most appeared to be lacking in some way or were not particularly eco-friendly even when they claimed to be. What we were looking for was a something that would act as a cat deterrent, but not harm them, would be difficult for our feline friends to push out of the way, would last a few years, was durable and also weather-proof. Most of all, it had to be effective.

The result is CATSCAT!

Frequently Asked questions

Q. Can Catscat be used to protect lawns?

A. Yes, but as the ground is often harder than with flower beds and veggies patches, Catscat may need some extra anchorage to keep it in place. Our customers have suggested that tent pegs or staples help solve this.

Q. Does Catscat work with scrub turkeys?

A. Catscat has not been tested by us, as a method to stop scrub turkeys from scratching and digging, but a few customers have found it useful. Again extra anchoragemay be needed to hold the Catscat in place as the turkey's claws are very strong.

Q. My dog digs holes in my garden, will catscat help?

A. Cat Scat can be an effective dog deterrent but it depends on the size of the holes that are dug and the habits of the dog. If a large dog is determined to dig through to the other side of the world, then it may dig under the Cat scat and dislodge it. Again extra anchorage may be required. If the dog digs in particular areas, then it is possible to block off access to that area by using Catscat.

Q. My neighbours cats walk along my fence and knock off pots that I keep on a ledge there, will Catscat help?

A. Catscat has been modified successfully by our customers. If the fence is wide enough Catscat can be stapled to the top of the fence and used as a barrier. Other customers have attached Catscat to wooden boards which are then nailed to the top of fences as a repellant.

Q. Cats are catching all the fish from my pond, will catscat help.

A. Yes, Catscat can be placed straight into the soil around the pond, if there is any or modified to adapt to your requirements.

Others uses of Catscat and feedback from our customers:

Cat Scat can be placed in houseplant pots to stop cat as them as an indoor toilet.

Catscat can be stapled to plywood to make a temporary night time barrier. An example of this barrier was used to stop cat from getting close to an aviary at night, this barrier is moved in the daytime.Catscat can be attached to window sills, roofs, railway arches and pipes to deter pigeons, possums, cockatoos, foxes etc.

Catscat has been attached to tree trunks successfully to act as a deterrent for cats climbing. I believe this could also stop squirrels, possums and lizards etc from climbing down the tree, so may or may not be suitable in all environments.

Cat scat can also be used as a deterrent for chickens and ducks, rabbits to stop digging and scratching.
